The zamindar houses of ancient Tripura still retain their traditions
Tripura is a state full of surprises. There are still many spots to be properly published by the bloggers of Tripura. One of the latest and most wonderful places is the 100-year-old manor house. This 100-year-old zamindar house is located 25 km from the capital Agartala. The name of that place is Krishna Kishore Nagar, Durganagar under Sipahijala district. The oldest zamindar house attracts a lot of tourists these days. Many tourists are seen in this place. This centuries-old zamindar house is now inhabited by the descendants of the zamindar. Zamindar died almost 60 years ago today. Since then his property has been kept intact by family members. The zamindars or zamindars were two brothers, Shyamananda and Syamacharan. Maa Durga was worshiped every day in this zamindar’s house. Currently there is a Durga temple called Mahamaya Mandir in this house. Maa Durga is worshiped once a year during Durga Puja in this zamindar house if not every day. Two houses of the landlord can be seen here. Both houses have large ponds. Apart from this, the houses of land robbers were surrounded by huge walls. The boundary of the house was made with domes. These domes are still there today. It is said that in those days lamps were lit inside this dome. Walking around the landlord’s house we see a 1345 Tring carving in one part. It is assumed that this manor house may have been built around this time. But what exactly is the literal meaning of this word? On inquiry we came to know that the word Tring is an abbreviation of Tripurabad. Tripuravda means the calendar of Tripura. To be more precise, 590 years after the introduction of AD, 512 years after the introduction of Shakabda and three years before the introduction of Bangabda, the Tripura Calendar or Tripuravda, i.e. Tring, was introduced.
And so the word Tring was carved out of hemp during the construction of this zamindar house. Also at that time domes were built around the houses of the landlords. It is rare to see such a grand and beautiful historic house standing today. So, it holds a lot of importance to Tripura and the people of Tripura. But besides all this, it is not at all without mentioning some things. If you look at the history, it can be seen that these landlords have brutally oppressed the common people at one time. They used to forcefully collect rent from them. And they were tortured if they did not pay rent. But the nature of the zamindar has not decreased even a single point among their descendants. We visited this zamindar house for the first time and on the one hand we admired its existence and beauty and we were also very surprised by the behavior of the descendants who are currently in this zamindar house. Because their pride and dignity about the lineage of the zamindar is great. It can be said to be arrogant. And the children of that arrogant landlord still consider others as inferior to them. If it sounds bad, it is real. And we realized that we didn’t need to spend much time there. Moreover, the descendants of many of those who were there during the zamindar period are currently in that area. One can hear a lot about this zamindar family from them too. It is possible to hear from the people of that period how these zamindars did brutal torture. However, besides the end of Rajnya rule, the people of the state have also been freed from the bloody eyes of these arrogant and bigoted landlords. And this is the most important thing. But outwardly speaking, this place contains the history of Tripura. So if you are just a tourist, this place will surely impress you. I hope you can get a lot of ideas about such a place from my writing.
